Community Coach and Mentor

 

Activity Description

We are currently seeking motivated and ambitious high school and college students who are passionate about our mission to work on an as needed basis as a Community Coach and Mentor at the Cincinnati Tennis and Education Center (“CTEC”) at the Withrow High School Campus. This will be a stipend paid contractor position with hours available between May 23 - August 15 of 2021.

Expectations

  • Teach tennis to junior players ages five through twelve years old

  • Ensure that players are supervised and engaged at all times, on and off the court

  • Help to maintain cleanliness of courts and the space nearby

  • Greet parents and children with a smile; invite children to join activities

  • Organize and implement activities with guidance as needed from other coaches and partners

  • Ensure children are treated with responsive respectfulness, i. e. coached vs. scolded; discuss behavior tactfully and out of range of child's hearing

  • Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate with players, parents, and other coaches

  • Active participation in events, programs, meetings, and training

  • Represent the organization in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response

  • Coach understands they will be working as an independent contractor and will not be a CTF employee

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience caring for or instructing children

  • Professional, friendly manner, and excellent customer service attitude

  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills

  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player

  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and willing to acquire new skills

  • Well organized and detail oriented

  • Computer literate

  • SafePlay certification required before starting

  • Coaches must have a minimum grade point of 2.0, 2.5 is preferred for the 2020-2021 school year

  • Coaches must have an excellent attendance record for the school year

  • CPR certification preferred

Hours

  • We expect to offer, on an as needed basis, an average of 5 hours/week teaching at CTEC

  • We need coaches available for the following events.

    • May 23rd: 2-6PM  

    • June 7-10th: 6:30-7:30PM

    • July 7th: 6:30-7:30PM

    • July 12-15th: 6:30-7:30PM

    • August 14th and 15th - 4 total hours, TBD based on availability

  • The other programs contractors could work include.

    • June 1- July 30th: Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30PM, Fridays 9:30-10:30AM

    • July 2021: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9AM-1PM

    • Remote programs based on interest and availability.

  • You are expected to inform us during the interview process if you have expected conflicts.
